E Liquid Ratio Mixes
The mix of an E Liquid refers to the ratio of VG (Vegetable Glycerine) and PG (Propylene Glycol) content. For example, a 50/50 E Liquid will contain an even mixture of 50% PG and 50% VG, whereas a 70/30 E Liquid will have 70% VG / 30% PG Mix. So what are the different mixes and why do they exist? VG is the element in E Liquid which creates clouds of vapour when you exhale, it’s a smooth compound that reduces the harshness of the throat hit. PG doesn’t create clouds as well but it delivers much more flavour and increases the throat-hit sensation. This makes High VG vape juice is perfect for Sub-Ohm devices, and High PG E-Liquid ideal for Vape Pens.
Understanding e-liquid ratios
Each number in an e-liquid ratio represents the ratio of VG and PG content. So 50/50 means the vape juice is made up of 50% VG and 50% PG. 70/30 has a 70% VG and a 30% PG content.
The ratio that is best for you is a lot down to personal preference, although there are some considerations. A 50/50 ratio of Vape Juice will produce a strong throat hit when vaping. Because of this, it is often favoured by new vapers who are looking for a sensation similar to smoking cigarettes. A 50/50 Vape will also be fine in most vape devices without any real considerations, so perfect for smaller vape pens. Again this is a reason newer vapers opt for a 50/50 as it will work with starter kits and similar.
70/30 Vape produces much more of a Vape cloud and so enthusiasts in the world of vaping often prefer this ratio. It does however require more advanced hardware to avoid clogging and burnout.
Aside from these factors, it becomes a matter of preference. Our recommendation with ratios and flavours is always to try out the different options and find the one which suits you best. The beauty of vaping comes in its variety and the ability to find the flavour, kit, strength combination that works for you. The same goes for ratios.
