Getting started with vaping

So you’ve decided to quit smoking and flirted with the idea of vaping? Great! But now you’re confronted with a bunch of confusing terms, hundreds of devices to choose from, and hundreds of thousands of E Liquids to browse. Where do you even begin? Well, fear not. Unlike most “Beginner Guides to Vaping”, we aren’t going to throw every possibility at you leaving you with more questions than answers. We’ve tried and tested hundreds of devices over the years and know exactly what works best for each type of vaper.

If you’re new to vaping, the easiest transition for you would be to choose a Starter Kit. Obvious, right? Well, not exactly. Not all Starter Kits are made equal (and some shouldn’t even be considered starter kits to be honest). A true Starter Kit is an AIO (All In One) device which means everything you need is conveniently encased in the device itself. The battery should be internal, the tank should be easy to fill, and the coils should be simple to replace.

What Do We Recommend?

With all of this in mind, there’s only really one device we’d recommend that ticks all the boxes (and then some). The best ecig starter kit in our opinion is the Innokin Endura T18E Starter Kit. This sleek device is made for new vapers specifically and has rave reviews not only from our users, but independent reviewers such as Ecig Click. If you want an in-depth and unbiased opinion of the Endura T18 (which is the American version of the T18E), we heavily recommend checking their website.

Hang on a minute, what about the Pockex? Surely that’s the daddy starter kit?

Well, yes… if we focus solely on popularity. The Pockex is the oldest device of its kind that still holds up to modern standards, but technology has changed a lot since the release of the Pockex in 2016. Also, although technically an All In One Starter Kit, the Pockex can use different resistance coils meaning more choice, maintenance and more confusion. Because of this feature, we don’t think it fits well enough in the beginner category to be our Starter Kit of choice. So, what’s so special about the T18E?

Innokin Endura T18E Starter Kit

The T18E is a true AIO Starter Kit. This device has everything you need to start vaping straight away. There’s no need for messing around with batteries since the T18E comes with an internal 1000mAh battery which is charged directly through the device itself. It has a fixed wattage output of 14w so there’s no need to concern yourself with finding the perfect power output either.

What about the coils? The T18E only uses the Innokin Endura Prism Coils which have a resistance of 1.5ohm which is perfect for the 14w output of the device. As far as E Liquid goes, you’ll be able to use any vape juice that comes in a 50/50 ratio (which is pretty much every E Liquid we sell, including our handy pre-mixed 10ml bottles!).

So, let’s break that down a little…

Innokin Endura T18E Prism Tank

The Tank is the top part of the device in which the coil sits and the E Liquid is placed. The Prism Tank is made with top quality stainless steel and pyrex glass. As stated, the T18E’s Prism Tank only uses the 1.5ohm Prism Coils so there’s no confusion as to which coils are best for your device. The EU version of the Prism Tank can only hold 2ml of E Liquid due to TPD regulations, but that still equates to plenty of hits before you have to refill the tank.

How to Fill the T18E Prism Tank

The Prism, like most Starter Kits, has a ‘top-fill’ tank which makes adding your E Liquid as easy and painless as possible. Simply screw off the top cap (the part with the mouthpiece attached) and insert the nozzle of your E Liquid bottle in the edge of the tank. DO NOT add e liquid to the centre of the tank. This area houses the coil, the middle of the coil is an open hole in which your vapour is produced for inhalation. If you squeeze E Liquid into this section, you will flood the coil and it will not be usable.

Once you’ve correctly filled your tank, leave it alone for 5 minutes for the cotton inside the coil to become saturated with the E Liquid. If you take a hit too soon, you could take a ‘dry hit’ by mistake. This is an unpleasant experience and will usually taste like it was burned. This most likely means you’ve damaged the coil and will need to replace it.

Innokin Endura T18E Prism Coils

The coils are the part of the device that vaporise the E Liquid to create the vapour you inhale. The Innokin Endura T18E Prism Coils are made with organic Japanese cotton and are designed for MTL (Mouth to Lung) vapers, which is more akin to how you would smoke tobacco, making it an easier transition for new vapers. The Prism Coils also utilise the ‘no spill coil swap system’. The coils use a standard 510 connector meaning removing and replacing coils couldn’t be easier.

How to Change the T18E Prism Coils

Changing the coils in the T18E Prism is super straightforward. Simply remove the tank by unscrewing it from the mod and then unscrew the bottom of the tank (make sure there’s no E Liquid in there, or you’re near a sink!) to give access to the bottom of the coil.

From here, just pull out the old coil and insert the new one by pushing it into the tank until it clicks into place. No screwing, no fiddling, just pop and click. All you need to do now is screw on the bottom of the tank, reattach it to your mod then fill it up with your E Liquid!

Innokin Endura T18E Mod

The mod is the bottom part of the vape kit, which contains the battery and houses the fire button. The Endura T18E’s mod is a super slim and lightweight pen-style device which fits nicely in the palm of your hand, and easily slides into your pocket.

Most Starter Kit mods will be designed in the ‘pen’ style simply due to its sleek look and portability. Like most Pen style mods, they require no maintenance whatsoever and only minimal battery safety knowledge. Thanks to the fixed wattage output too, your 1000mAh battery will last all day at the very least!

Innokin Endura T18E Battery

The battery is what powers the device. The T18E’s battery is powerful and lightweight, housed inside the bottom part of the vape kit (the mod). As with all true All In One kits, the battery is non-removable and can only be charged through the device itself. You simply plug your micro-usb cable into the device and attach it to your PC/Laptop for hassle-free charging. Although not as important with AIO Kits, you should still make sure you have some basic Battery Safety knowledge before using any vape kit.

The device also comes with “Vape While Charging” technology, so if you run out of charge you don’t have to wait for the charge to start using it. So long as it’s plugged in, you’re good to go!

E Liquids for the Innokin Endura T18E

The type of E Liquid you can use depends entirely on your coil’s resistance. Since the Innokin Endura T18E only uses coils with a 1.5ohm resistance, you should only use them with 50/50 E Liquid. Thankfully, that also includes our delicious Nic Salts which you can get in either 10mg or 20mg strength. Ideal for people who’ve just quit smoking.

If you want to buy larger bottles to save some money, you just have to make sure they’re from our 50/50 E Liquid range, and if you buy any additional Nic Shots, they’re either 50/50 Nic Shots or 50/50 Nic Salt Shots.
