How to Vape CBD

Vaping CBD has exploded in popularity in recent years, as it is the most effective and convenient way to absorb the compound.

Many are drawn to the reported beneficial effects of CBD, believed to help improve mood, focus and even alleviate pain!

However, getting started can feel a bit overwhelming. That’s why we’ve put together this jargon-free guide to help you begin your CBD journey. We’ll be explaining the effects of CBD, the recommended dosage, and how to go about setting up your own kit.

What Are the Effects of Vaping CBD?

Under UK law, CBD e-liquids must contain less than 0.2% THC (the psychoactive ingredient found in marijuana), so they don’t produce the “high” often associated with cannabis use. All of our CBD e-liquid is manufactured right here in the UK, so you know what you’re getting.

Instead, the CBD engages with your body’s endocannabinoid system, believed to have many beneficial effects. Users have reported that CBD has helped to:

Vaping CBD is the most effective way to take it. This is thanks to the higher bioavailability it offers when compared to CBD food supplements, drinks, or tinctures. Vaping allows the CBD to be directly absorbed into the bloodstream via the lungs.

How Much CBD Should I Vape?

The current recommended daily intake of CBD is 10mg a day. Keep this in mind and vape to a level that works for you.

We’d always suggest starting with a lower strength (like 300mg) before moving up to the higher strength e-liquids (1000mg+). Our liquids go all the way up to 5000mg in potency, so you’re sure to find something that works for you!

Remember that the strength (mg) is dependent on the size (ml) of the bottle. For example, 1000mg of CBD in a 10ml bottle is much stronger than it would be in a 50ml bottle. This is because bigger bottles result in the CBD mg getting diluted more.

To give you an idea of how much CBD you get from each puff, let’s look at the commonly used 1000mg (1ml) cartridges. These provide around 5-10mg of CBD per puff, meaning around 10 puffs a day would allow you to hit the recommended intake.

When you do start vaping, just take a few drags to begin with and see how you feel. You may feel the effects in a few minutes, or it may take up to half an hour. Take slow, deep inhales to help your body absorb the CBD properly.

Gradually increase the strength of your e-liquid and the frequency you vape until you reach a level you’re happy with.

Getting the Best CBD Vaping Experience

CBD e-liquid is made with a mid-to-high ratio of PG to VG. This is because a higher PG helps to keep the CBD solution together. When the VG is higher, the CBD can start to separate.

As a result, CBD e-liquid is thinner than other high-VG solutions. To properly vape CBD liquids, you’ll need to make sure you’re doing so at a low wattage. Most plus-ohm devices – such as vape pods and pens – will already be set at a suitable level. If you’re using a sub-ohm device, however, make sure that you’re setting your wattage low (ideally below 30).

If you vape at a higher wattage, the coil heats up to a higher temperature, causing the vape juice to evaporate too quickly. You’ll then get a dry hit, leading you to damage your coil. The higher temperature also causes the CBD to degrade, nullifying its effects. So, remember—make sure to keep that wattage down!

When you add the vape juice to your device, allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes. This gives it time to soak into the coil properly. If you inhale before it’s had the chance to absorb, you’ll end up with a dry inhale and a damaged coil.

Once you’ve got your wattage set and your juice has soaked in, you’re all ready to go: relaxation awaits. Hold the vapour in your lungs for around 10-20 seconds so the CBD can absorb.

Setting Up Your Own CBD Vape Device

When it comes to setting up your own CBD vape, there are a few general guidelines to keep in mind.

As we’ve covered, CBD e-liquid should have a balanced ratio of PG to VG. This means that the liquid is on the thinner side, so you’ll need to set up your device to properly accommodate this.

The easiest way to do this is by using a plus-ohm device. These devices – like vape pens – operate at a lower wattage, meaning that the CBD is vapourised properly, ensuring you get the highest possible bioavailability.

That being said, you can also use a sub-ohm device if you wish! Typically, these devices operate at a higher wattage and are used to vape thicker 70/30 liquids, but they can be used to vape 50/50 CBD juices, too.

Most pod devices and advanced vape kits are sub-ohm. If you would like to use one of these vapes, just make sure that you go to the settings and adjust the wattage. You’ll need to lower it to somewhere below 30 watts – the lower, the better!

Remember that some products cannot go to a low enough wattage, so it’s always a good idea to double-check before making a purchase.

Disposable CBD Vape Devices

If you’re looking to start vaping CBD, you might be feeling a little daunted at the thought of setting up your own kit, or you may simply just be looking to try before you buy.

If this sounds like you, it’s worth considering a disposable CBD vape. Just like regular CBD e-liquids, they come in a wide variety of flavours, varieties, and strengths.

These devices are an easy, hassle-free way to get started. With no set-up required, you generally just need to open up the packet and inhale to start administering CBD.

Remember though, disposables are more expensive for long-term use. If you’re planning to start vaping CBD regularly, it’s a good idea to think about getting yourself a reusable kit.

Choosing a CBD E-Liquid For You

With so many options out there, it can be hard to know where to begin. The variety might seem confusing at first, but when you break it down, it’s actually very easy to understand.

CBD Isolate

Our CBD e-liquid comes in a few forms. The first is our CBD Isolate range. This is CBD in its purest form, containing CBD only. All other cannabinoids from the cannabis plant are removed entirely. It has no distinctive taste or smell, making it ideal for addition to e-liquids.

CBD Distillate

Next up is the CBD Distillate range. Reduced from the hemp plant, it consists of around 50-70% CBD. The rest is the natural vitamins, fatty acids and other cannabinoids (like CBN, CBG, and CBC) that the plant is made out of. This has a more distinctive, earthy flavour and a harsher throat hit.

CBD Terpenes

Alternatively, you can go for one of our CBD Terpenes products. Terpenes are the natural building blocks of plants – and of your favourite strains, like OG Cali Kush. Including terpenes produces the same distinctive aroma and taste as the original marijuana plant, all with a harsh throat hit. But that’s not all! Terpenes also work in conjunction with the CBD to produce an ‘entourage effect’, bolstering its positive effects.

Achieving the Right Effect

Once you’ve figured out what kind of CBD liquid you want, it’s time to think about what you actually want from the liquid.

Do you want to relax? Promote feelings of calm? Improve focus? Uplift your mood? Relieve pain or reduce inflammation?

We understand this might be a little overwhelming – that’s why we’ve put together this handy CBD quiz! It’s designed to help you find the right product for you – whether that be e-liquid, gummies, or tinctures – in just seven easy steps.

Why Is My CBD E-Liquid Crystallising?

Sometimes, when CBD juice has been left to sit for a while, it can start to crystallise. This can happen in the bottle or in the vape itself. If this has happened to you, don’t worry – it doesn’t mean you’ve got a faulty or gone-off product.

In fact, it’s quite the opposite! Only high concentrations of pure CBD crystallise, so it’s a good indication that you’ve got some top-quality juice. The natural form of CBD is crystalline, so it can revert to it after it’s gotten cold or been left alone for a period of time.

If your CBD e-liquid has crystallised, you’ll just need to heat it up a bit to get it to return to normal. To decrystallise a CBD e-liquid bottle or coil, just pop it into an airtight ziplock bag and then place it in some warm water. After a few minutes, the crystals will disappear.

Frequently Asked Questions

What Is Bioavailability?

Bioavailability is the rate of absorption for a substance when it’s introduced to the body. This can range from low to high. Vaping CBD allows for the highest possible rate of CBD absorption, as it enters directly into the bloodstream through your lungs.

Yes, you can vape CBD with most vapes.

That being said, you need to make sure you’ve got your device set up properly. Most devices, like vape pods and vape pens, can use plus-ohm coils, which are perfectly suited to vape CBD e-liquid

If you’re using a more advanced kit with a sub-ohm coil, you need to make sure you’re using it at a low wattage (ideally below 30 watts). Otherwise, you risk damaging your coil and degrading the CBD itself.

You can add CBD to shortfill bottles of your favourite e-liquid flavour. This allows for massive customisation!

That said, you should only add CBD to nicotine-free juices. The effects of the two compounds counteract each other, greatly reducing the effectiveness. Don’t worry, though – we offer many nicotine-free variants of your go-to liquids

Be sure to add your CBD to a 50/50 ratio liquid. This allows it to be properly absorbed. If you add it to a 70/30 liquid with a high VG concentration, the CBD may start to separate.

If you’re thinking about taking CBD, be sure to consult your doctor. They can give you the advice you’re looking for, allowing you to vape in confidence!

No – CBD oils and tinctures are for oral consumption only. Vaping oil causes residue to be left in your lungs, which is unsafe.

CBD e-liquids are made out of the same food-safe ingredients as regular vape juice (PG and VG), meaning they’re specially designed for inhalation. Sometimes, e-liquids are colloquially referred to as CBD oils, so be sure to double-check you’ve got the right stuff.

If you’re interested in adding CBD to your daily routine but you’d prefer not to vape, that’s no problem! There are a range of alternative ways to get your CBD intake.

One of the most popular ways to consume CBD is with the use of CBD oils, also known as tinctures. To administer CBD oil, simply squeeze a few drops of oil under your tongue and let it rest for around 60-90 seconds. This allows it to be absorbed sublingually.

Alternatively, you can consume CBD orally using gummies or powder. Taking the gummies is very straightforward – simply chew, swallow, and enjoy! Powder gives you a bit more choice. You can either swallow it as-is, or you can add it to your food or drink.
