VG and PG

It’s crucial to mix the right vape juice for your specific device because PG and VG bases are critical components of DIY e-liquids. If you don’t have the correct PG VG ratio then your vape pen device or pod system’s high-resistance coils may become clogged rather rapidly, or your vape kit may stop producing a considerable amount of vapour.

You can buy your propylene glycol and vegetable glycerine separately for your own unique mix, or buy our premixed 70:30 and 50:50!

If you’re new to DIY e-liquid and unclear of the ratios required to make a delicious, well-balanced e-juice, check out our E-Liquid Mixing Calculator and DIY E-Liquid Guide.

What is VG and PG?

The majority of e-liquid or vape juice is made up of PG & VG, two food-safe liquids. Propylene glycol is commonly referred to as PG and vegetable glycerine is known as VG. A ratio of both components will be found in almost all vape liquids.

The most common ratios you’ll most likely find in your standard vape store are 70 vg 30 pg (70:30) and 50 vg 50 pg (50:50).

However, when you buy your PG and VG separately, you can experiment with the ratio mixes to find one that works the best for you and your vape kit! Just make sure you use the ratio calculator to work out the correct mix!

What is High VG Liquid (70/30)?

A 70/30 e-liquid indicates that it contains 70% vegetable glycerin (VG) and 30% propylene glycol (PG). It’s thicker and smoother because of the increased VG content, making it the perfect vape juice for stronger devices that produce lots of vapour clouds.

Because of this, using 70/30 E-Liquids requires a Sub-Ohm device (a coil with a resistance below 1 ohm). Our Vape Coil Guide contains all the information you could possibly need to know about coils.

What is a 50 VG 50 PG (50:50) mix?

A 50/50 blend of VG (Vegetable Glycerin) and PG (Propylene Glycol) makes up 50/50 E-Liquid, a well-balanced flavourful vape juice. VG produces thicker clouds of smoke, whilst PG carries more flavour.

You get the best of both worlds with a 50/50 base, which is also incredibly smooth. A High PG e-liquid, such as 50/50 vape juice, performs best in low-powered devices with Plus Ohm Coils, but pretty much any device can be used with 50/50 vg and pg mix.
