grape e-liquid

Ah grapes, those versatile berries that find themselves in so many products, and since vaping began, grape flavoured e-liquids have been a firm favourite of many vapers. But what makes grape e-liquid so popular in the UK? We take a look in this article.

What is a grape?

Grapes are an ellipsoid shaped berry grown on vines around the world with China surprisingly being the top grape producer, pumping out over 13 million tonnes of the little fruits in 2017.

Historically, grapes have actually been cultivated for up to 8,000 years. They come in variety of sizes and colours, with the darker grapes being the sweetest, and are used to make, among other things, wine, juice, jam, jelly, grape seed oil and raisins when dried.

The yeast that occurs naturally on the skin of grapes led to the discovery of wine over 10,000 years ago. Likely by accident, the bottom of containers holding grapes collected a weak alcoholic liquid after the grapes began to ferment. Actually, this hilarious sketch from the UK comedy duo, Armstrong & Miller, is not too far off the truth (not sure about the origin of the doner kebab though!).

Once this unexpected process was discovered, wine began to be actively produced 8,000-10,000 years ago, particularly in the Near East.

The birth of grape e-liquid

Now moving into the 21st century, as vaping gained popularity in the UK so did vapers’ penchant for grape eliquid. Grape flavoured e-juices are usually based on the darker, purple berries because of their rich, sweet flavour. But the grape soda taste is also a favourite among vapers.

Why is grape e-liquid so popular in the UK?

It’s a tough question, but its likely that grape e-liquids are a UK favourite because the flavour makes for a great all-day vape, it’s not overpowering, and its well-balanced taste profile appeals to a wide range of palates.

It’s also a highly versatile flavour, blending perfectly with different fruits, menthols and other flavours.
